stars and stripes

Masked - November 2017 - Pen and Ink

For the last project of the quarter, we were shown an image of the American flag and asked to find stylistic elements within and to create another piece using the elements we chose, which had to include stripes, stars and of course a red, white and blue color scheme. When I think of our country these days, my first thought is usually our president. I wanted to draw his face, in simple contour lines; adding as many gruesome features as possible; and adding the stripes and stars over it, almost like a mask. It mostly came out like I wanted, but I do wish I had worked on it for longer than a class period so I could have gotten some more details in.
