The competitive JROTC air rifle marksmanship team consists of ten cadets that are selected to the team each year through performance during the air rifle team tryouts. Previous year team members have the option to continue on the team and then the remaining positions are filled from tryout scores. The air rifle team practices and participates in many competitions each school year. It takes a great deal of patience and discipline to effectively shoot at the competitive level with air rifles. This sport is held at the collegiate and Olympic levels.
