Interested potential chaperones must follow this process to become a county certified HLHS MCJROTC chaporone:
Step 1: Contact a booster club officer or MCJROTC instructor to receive booster/program approval
Note: Former cadets desiring to be chaperones will need to have four years lapse since high school graduation
Step 2: The Senior Marine Instructor will submit your nomination to the HLHS Principal for school approval
Step 3: Once you receive the approval to proceed, go to the following link and complete the background investigation. The payment for the investigation is currently $29.95.
Beginning July 1, 2019, all chaperones, volunteers and vendors that have not been processed through BIB will be required to apply online at the BIB website at

You may access the widget through the DeSoto County Schools website. If you have a current background check on file with DeSoto County Schools, your background check will be valid until July 1, 2019. Background checks processed by BIB are valid for two (2) years. Reminder: Background checks for chaperones are required only for overnight school sponsored field trips.
Step 4: Once you receive your results, please forward a copy to the booster club secretary to be included on our approved booster club chaperone list.
