Biography:
Gunnery Sergeant Carolyn A. Ziegler enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Reserve on September 22, 2008, in Jacksonville, Florida. She completed recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina, in April 2009 and reported to Savannah, Georgia, where she served as a Landing Support Specialist with Landing Support Company, Combat Logistics Regiment 45.
In April 2010, Gunnery Sergeant Ziegler deployed to Helmand Province, Afghanistan, with Combat Logistics Battalion 2, Bravo Company, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. During this deployment, she provided critical support to air operations throughout the region. Upon completion of her tour, she returned to Landing Support Company in Savannah, Georgia.
Gunnery Sergeant Ziegler continued her professional development through civilian education, attending the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida. In 2013, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Sport and Exercise Science with a minor in Education.
In August 2020, she was mobilized to support Task Force operations in response to the COVID-19 pandemic at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island. During this mobilization, she served as the Logistics Chief for Headquarters and Service Battalion. Following her tour, she resumed duties as the Company Gunnery Sergeant for Landing Support Company.
After 16 years of dedicated service with Landing Support Company, Gunnery Sergeant Ziegler will assume her next assignment as Advisor Logistics with Marine Corps Advisor Company Alpha, Washington, D.C.
Her personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
