Must successfully receive nomination from MSI to be considered for the MSISR scholarship.

Qualifying scores on Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or American College Test (ACT):
SAT: 540 Math; 550 Verbal/Critical Reading
SAT Combined score of 1200 is NOT REQUIRED for MSI Scholarship
If Combined test score below 1200, must respond positively to the MSISR interest question in the application in order for application to be processed
ACT: 21 Math; 22 English
ACT Combined score of 47 is NOT REQUIRED for MSI Scholarship
If combined test score below 47, must respond positively to the MSISR interest question in the application in order for application to be processed
Any combination of scores, regardless of test type, can be utilized to achieve the minimum test scores of each category.

Description:
TYPE 1
Pays full (100 percent) college tuition and authorized fees at any public or private institution with an Air Force ROTC detachment.
Type 1 selectees will also receive a monthly living expense stipend and an annual book stipend.
TYPE 2
Pays up to $18,000 per year in college tuition and authorized fees at any public or private institution with an Air Force ROTC detachment.
Scholarship payment is further capped at $9,000 per semester or $6,000 per quarter.
Type 2 selectees will also receive a monthly living expense stipend and an annual book stipend.
TYPE 7
Pays full (100 percent) college tuition and authorized fees (capped at the in-state tuition rate) at a public institution with an Air Force ROTC detachment. Type 7 selectees will also receive a monthly living expense stipend and an annual book stipend.
Students offered a Type 7 scholarship will be given the option to convert their scholarship to a three-year Type 2 scholarship that can be used at out-of-state or private schools. A three-year Type 2 scholarship will start during the sophomore year of school.
Note: AFROTC Scholarships do not cover room and board.

Description: The Preparatory Scholarship is designed to establish a path for high potential students to gain college experience and strengthen fundamental areas of study, such as math and English, prior to being put on the 4 Year NROTC Scholarship. Students selected for the Preparatory Scholarship will receive one year's tuition from the University of Memphis, while participating in the NROTC program. If the student performs well during this year, they will automatically be granted the 4 Year NROTC Scholarship by the US Navy. During the preparatory year, students will wear the same uniforms as all NROTC Midshipmen and will participate in all the same events. Selected students will be required to attend New Student Orientation prior to starting the preparatory year at University of Memphis. This program is only offered to prospective Navy Option MIDN, so if you are interested in the Marines, please apply for the 4 Year NROTC Scholarship, or our College Program.
