Scope: 10 Schools | 67,786 enrolled Students | across 4 Academic Terms
Tools Used: Power BI, Power Query, DAX, Relational Data Modeling, Excel
District leadership struggled to answer cross-cutting performance questions because critical operational data—student attendance, assessments, enrollment, and teacher lesson delivery—lived in disconnected spreadsheets. I designed and developed an interactive Power BI dashboard to consolidate these sources into a single analytical model, transitioning the district from relying on anecdotal assumptions to evidence-based decision-making.
Data Source: A fictional district education dataset was created for this project
Data Integration: Unified four isolated datasets using shared reference tables (schools, students, calendar) to build a robust relational model.
Metric Engineering: Defined 29 standardized KPIs using DAX, including chronic absenteeism, pass rates, gender parity indices, and lesson completion ratios.
Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA): Analyzed distributions across ~24,000 assessment and ~36,000 attendance records, directly testing assumptions like the correlation between attendance and academic performance.
Dashboard Design: Built a 4-page self-service interactive report featuring an Executive Summary, Attendance Deep Dive, Academic Performance, and Enrollment & Teacher Activity.
This dashboard provided leadership with a clear, comparable picture of district performance. By proving that academic outcomes were already stable, the data allowed the district to pivot its resources toward solving the real operational bottlenecks: prioritizing teacher lesson delivery and shifting from broad attendance campaigns to targeted interventions for chronically absent students.
