A Consultancy Bid/Feasibility Report on Swansea Bay Tidal Lagoon 6-mile wall construction.

A consultancy bid report on Swansea Bay TIDAL LAGOON

The study attempts to undertake a feasibility study to assess if the goal of 50% of the £300 million contract value for the Swansea bay tidal lagoon six mile walkway can be realized via the UK Supply chain.

The study aims to strengthen the project’s potential to -

i. Increase supply chain benefits in terms of jobs and commercial opportunities for local businesses/communities.

ii. Assess the Wales/UK’s supply chain capability for the tidal lagoon construction.

iii. Deliver substantial value to the welsh economy and job market.

The project made use of three different objectives in meeting the goal of the study.

- Examining the capability of the UK’s current supply chain for the tidal lagoon project and which potential employment opportunities and challenges are in line with the current supply chain by looking at: Supply Chain analysis, Supply chain Capability model, & Stakeholder analysis.

- Evaluating the impact of the tidal lagoon project on the supply chain of the UK/ Wales communities by looking at:  PEST Analysis, Risk identification and analysis.

- Identifying the implementing procedures and monetary resources for project execution using the current supply chain by looking at: Project Planning and Scheduling, Life cycle cost analysis.

In order to achieve the above objectives, the expected applicable methods that are needed to meet the basic criteria to achieve the stated objectives were outlined; the method(s) for achieving the objectives were briefly defined; while information from the context of project management were used to exemplify the appropriateness of the methods.

Based on the selected approaches and their business models, the study then illustrated graphically these selected approaches with the help of a Gantt chart to show a summary of the specific project activities with their timelines. A contribution section then sufficed which highlighted additional industry information for the various approaches utilized, and the project as a whole, thus clarifying why the approach and methods selected is the most appropriate for meeting the project’s objectives and thus satisfying the client’s requirement.

This in turn was then followed by a concluding remark which summed up the entirety of the report findings based on the client’s specification. The method of gathering information for all the chosen techniques/models is via secondary data obtained from already analyzed industry-based materials such as articles, websites, journals and publications.
