July 2018: Throughout this month, a majority of what I focused on was working with my new Wacom Intuos Pro graphics tablet. Getting used to the more sensitive pen-to-tablet recognition, most of the pieces were quick sketches that were ultimately discarded, however, I ended up completing two full compositions in order to refresh myself on techniques picked up from last year.
- Picture of a Pokémon whose name is Bulbasaur; here I attempted to be more aware of how the background interacts with the character (i.e., limbs casting shadows upon the rocks). Additionally, I used layer effects in order to achieve a more detailed look on the trees and grass, essentially adding light from the sunset. This allowed me to get back into the groove of artwork! - Composition of my cat whose name is Sailor; here I was practicing a combination of human and animal anatomy, hence the position and presence of clothing. Despite having this quirky mix of the two, I feel as if my understanding of how to draw water was improved in this piece. I am still looking for a bit more of a reflective quality which I will explore in further artworks! (7/18/18)
