- Illustration of the icon that will be used for the TechPlus website's Loveland Abre portal shortcut. Although this image took approximately five minutes to complete, the procedure for creating this logo allowed me to further understand the intuitive features of Adobe Photoshop CC, especially with text boxes and shape alignment. Further, by creating this piece, I was able to review each of this program's layer effects (different from blending modes), which freshened up a skill set that I had not been able to use for quite some time. Overall, since my previous Innovation Lab year marks the last occasion I was able to design a logo, this icon was very refreshing to do! (5/2/19)
- Composition of a cat standing over a cliff. When analyzing this illustration, I strongly feel as if I am beginning to make progress on my characters' joint structures, most prominently with the definition and connection of limbs to the torso. Additionally, despite having struggled with paw illustration throughout this year, I was finally able to properly orient the individual toes, eliminating the "bendy" limb effect that can be seen in some of my previous artworks. Aside from this improvement, I am also pleased with how the ambient lightning connects the background and character, however, I am still looking for more techniques to create emphasis on one particular color. Since I am continuing to observe other artists' pieces, I am optimistic that I will be able to accomplish this by the end of the school year, allowing me to begin inanimate object additions. (5/6/19)
- Composition of one of my family cats, Hazel. Experimenting with an icon-like style inspired by Bitmoji, I am satisfied with how well the character's blue cap and sock came out, as I have struggled with illustrating inanimate objects in my past artworks. Additionally, although I am continuing to see improvement on the limb and paw structure of my animals, I still feel as if the placement of their snouts could be slightly more in line with the sketch guides created for the facial structure, however, this is an anatomical aspect I am planning to continue studying via photograph references. Using Adobe Photoshop CC in order to create both the circular background and text, I once again was able to do more experimenting on alignment features, using anchor points from the standard pen tool in order to create the curvature seen throughout the text. Despite not incorporating any light or shadow into the character itself, I was able to apply geometric shadows to the circular background, accentuating its contrasting color. (5/14/19)
