- Composition of a dog in a snowy forest landscape at dusk. Continuing my use of the chalk brush in Photoshop, I feel as if I am greatly improving on my illustration of background elements, especially clouds! In addition to this, I am satisfied with the incorporation of light and shadow to the snow, trees, and rocks, all of which was once again accomplished via the adjusting of the flow and opacity of the used brushes. Completing character figure sketches while viewing reference images has ultimately proven to be quite helpful, as compared to my last full-body canine pieces, the definition of the snout is more pronounced. Overall, this artwork has really allowed me to move forward on my goals set for this month! (2/8/19)
- Composition of a dog sitting on a cartoon version of the Earth. After doing this illustration, I strongly feel that I am starting to develop the skills to draw canines solely from my imagination! Not using any photograph references for this image and thinking of the song "On Top of the World" by Imagine Dragons, this scene was the first thing that came to my mind. In terms of the anatomy of the dog, I am most happy with the structure of the back legs, however, I still see room for improvement on the upper body (front legs, chest). For the shading, I am satisfied with the flow of the cel marks, as they more directly correspond to the direction of the lines of the fur when compared to my previous piece. Moreover, in order to create the clouds, I once again used Photoshop's chalk brush in conjunction with a radial blur filter. Overall, I am still working towards a method of using unified colors in my artworks, which is something I am directing a lot of my energy towards in March! (2/28/19)
