My Perspective by Abbie H.

8th Grade, Finn Hill Middle School

Outstanding Interpretation

I am half Vietnamese and have immigrant grandparents who fled during the Vietnam war. I am a biracial young woman and I matter because I have a unique perspective. This photo was taken from a distinctive point of view: looking down at myself from my bedroom window. I chose this picture for this theme because it is a picture of me (which is a little strange since the camera is usually faced the other way) from a cool point of view that represents what I want to share- who I am and why I matter.

Award of Merit

Because of the COVID-19, many people are feeling lonely and worried. I matter beacause I can help support people when they need others the most. This photo shows a bench, with no one to sit on it. This resembles people who feel isolated and alone. With others assistance and company, everyone will feel like they belong. By being loving, kind, and helpful can make others happier and overcome challenges in these difficult times. I matter because I will be there for people and make them feel cheerful.
