The Final Piece by Anika B.

5rd Grade, McAuliffe Elementary

Outstanding Interpretation

Our world is like a big puzzle. Huge, intricate, complex, and beautiful. Often, it is hard to see how we matter if there are thousands of other pieces around us. But, if you look closely, each and every piece is different, and every piece is needed to complete the puzzle. We are all needed to complete our world. And that is why we all matter.

2020 My Life is on Repeat

by Darius F.

5th Grade, Samantha Smith Elementary

Award of Merit

My work shows the cycle of a normal day, week and month since online school started. What it illustrates is how I feel going through a repetitive cycle that makes only two emotions: sadness and anger. The world will not change without education and if kids don't get back to school soon, their future and the worlds' future will be threatened.

Shadow Leaves by Ella R.

3rd Grade, Samantha Smith Elementary

Award of Excellence

My Photo "Shadow Leaves" is about caring for nature. It expresses the theme "I matter because I care for nature". The photo shows my shadow along with fallen leaves. The leaves symbolize nature, and my shadow symbolizes me caring for nature. I named the photo "Shadow Leaves" because i combined the words shadow and colorful to make the world shadowful. i used the filters in Google Photos to make the photo look like a sunset. For the bottom part i used a darkening effect and for the top i used a brightening effect.
