Now that the Publix building has been inclosed, little progress can be seen from week to week so I may reduce the postings to every other week for the near future.

Turkey buzzard entering the picture in front of Yonah Mountain.
This photo shows the southern end of the Blue Ridge Mountains. These mountains are about 23 to 30 miles from Lanier Village Estates and span a distance of about 30 miles from near Big Canoe on the left and Helen, Ga. on the right. Some of these mountains are visible from LVE but trees block most of the view. Numerous State Parks, National Forest Recreational Areas, streams, waterfalls, mountian crossings, mountain valleys and interesting places such as the Len Foote Hike Inn can be found in these mountains. There are also many wineries in this area that are part of what is known as the Dahlonega Plateau American Viticultural Area located in Lumpkin and White counties. These mountains that continue on into North Carolina and South Carolina have annual rainfall in excess of 80 inches which may be the highest in the contiguous US with the exception of the coastal regions of Washington, Oregon and Louisiana. In about three to four weeks, these mountains will be draped in beautiful colors which make for a great afternoon automobile ride with the sun shining through the leaves.
