All of the photos above were made Saturday, November 2, including this photo of the Dahlonega campus of University of North Georgia with the Blue Ridge Mountains in the background.  

Springer Mountain, the high point directly above the gold steeple in the center of the photo, is the southern terminus of the Appalachain Trail. According to Google, 2250 hikers registered to hike the entire AT in 2024 but it is unknown how many actually finished. However, Tara Dower did finish and she completed the approximately 2190 mile trek through the mountains in less than 41 days, hiking (or running) an average of about 53 miles a day. At least one resident of LVE has walked the entire Appalachian Trail.
