Metagame Info
ALL characters must finish the [ID Papers prompt] before they can participate in this event!
Collabs are allowed during the Southern Cardinal Temple section of this event!
This is a test run and based on what we learn, collabs may be allowed for other tasks in the future!
The first part of the event will remain open for two weeks after the last Southern Cardinal Temple entry is received.
This gives time for players who haven't participated yet to get some last minute entries in!
Change is coming, carried by the winds as they blow through the stagnant swamp of Umbreglade. Frozen in time, the swamp retains a stillness, a peace even while the population of Cypress Springs grows slowly at the swamp's center. With so many new youngsters eager to pave their way in the world and grow as individuals, frustration mounts as they're forbidden from leaving the inner city walls. Many yearn for adventure and excitement, but are relegated to cleaning up shrines, painting homes, and general city maintenance. Many want more, and aren't satisfied with this stagnant lifestyle. Many are asking questions, and many are demanding answers.
The elders continue to try and mitigate the frustration of the youngsters with small festivals or periodical field trips into the swamp. These methods are losing their effectiveness, however. Change is impending as the unrest grows...
Mossy cobblestone pathways lead to the center of the town of Cypress Springs. There are mushrooms, dandelions, and little purple flowers growing through the cracks between the stone on some pathways, as they haven't been traversed regularly in recent weeks. Much like the swamp that surrounds it, the town has been growing stagnant over the years, with the younger motti becoming restless and bored. What would otherwise be a quiet morning has turned into quite a commotion as young motti gather in the town square. Upon a stone pedestal, a fellow youngster stands tall. Their double antenna are long with bulbs at the end which glow brightly as they speak energetically. Guards have quietly started to surround the group, patiently watching as the assembly takes place, but the frustration that's mounting is palatable as the youngster on the pedestal speaks.
As you approach, you're curious to see what they have to say-
There are mixed opinions from the motti in the crowd, but it does seem the majority are in favor of at least having the choice to leave.
Baron Akistro is accompanied by two guards, one on either side of him as he approaches the town square. On his left, a large brute of an Arthramotti donned in varying browns and yellow accents and wearing worn, studded leather armor. With both pairs of arms crossed, he observes the crowd and assesses that they are relatively calm. To Akistro's right, there is a black and grey shorter Animotti, dressed in clean, crisp green padded armor that a lot of the guards seem to wear. She seems angry as she squares her shoulders, tense from the large crowd that has gathered.
None of the older motti bear weapons, nor seem like they're there to fight. Instead, Akistro approaches with soft eyes, and his hands raised to show he means no harm.
Akistro gestures gently to his accompanying guards,
lowering his hands slowly as he gives them a soft look.
Turning to Horace, Akistro holds out his hand. The large Arthra pulls a small, cream colored tallow brick from his satchel and hands it over. Akistro presents the brick to Zemi.
This event will run until the Community Goal is reached. It is a slow paced event without a hard deadline. Where we will meet new NPCs, get to ask questions in character, explore key locations, and get a glimpse at what secrets the older ones have been hiding away from the younger generations.
For the first section, the Southern Temple will need to be cleaned and repaired.
It will take 30 entries from the community as a whole to "complete" the Southern Temple.
When collaborating, that will count as one entry towards the community goal
regardless of how many collaborators there are.
The first part of the event will remain open for two weeks after the last Southern Cardinal Temple entry is received.
This gives time for players who haven't participated yet to get some last minute entries in!
Once all four Cardinal Temples have been fully completed, the second part of the event will open up.
This will unlock the Ferrowick Infusion Ritual to allow Ferrowick Familiars to be created.
Each Motti can have one Ferrowick Familiar!
The area is very swampy, with large Cypress Trees scattered about. The Cardinal temples are all built upon mossy cobblestone footing, often near a large Cypress Tree with dorms built up the length of the trunk for the clerics to live in. Civilians do not typically live in the Cypress dorms adjacent to temples. There are often dozens of Ferrowicks scattered about the shrines and temples, as Clerics are the only class of Motti who can create multiple familiars.
Solid natural ground is a rarity in the center of the swamp, with most of the traversable ground made up of peat, dense moss, and quicksand. It is highly recommended to travel by small jon boats, canoes, or rafts if you're not a Motti that can fly.
While there are many temples with ritual sites located within the city, the most notable are the four Cardinal Temples surrounding the town square. The center of town is made of mossy cobblestone with temples located in the four cardinal directions, and a large circular structure in the center which is the town hall. Baron Akistro, a couple dozen guards, and several clerics can be found at Town Hall on any given day.

During this event your characters will be able to speak directly to some of the NPCs.
All interactions with the NPCs will be treated as canon. Your character's actions, statements, and choices contribute to shaping the direction of the story. Emotions are heated especially from the younger generations, so a mixed range of reactions is expected. However if you decide to throw a punch just to see what happens, know that there will be consequences for your character's choices and actions, so play wisely! Take care to think about what your character would say and do if they were really in the situations presented.
NOTE: Intentional metagaming and god-modding are NOT ALLOWED and will not be addressed in character. If you break the fourth wall, meta game, or god-mode, a mod will let you know and skip your interaction. Your Event Tokens will not be used and there are no negative consequences for accidentally breaking a rule.
From now until the end of the event, an NPC Interaction channel will be open on our Discord every Saturday, starting on May 10th!
The channel will stay open approximately 24 hours before closing.
Which NPCs are available for questions may change with each opening.
You can spend Event Tokens to ask the NPCs questions. 1 Token per Question / Topic.
Your sentence structure can have additional questions as long as they relate to the question topic.
Ex: "Tog, why did you choose to be a caretaker? Do you like it? Is it fun?"
This counts as one question or topic as you're getting specifics regarding Tog becoming a caretaker.
Ex: "Tog, why did you choose to become a caretaker? Where did you come from? What city were you born in?"
This would require 3 Tokens as you are asking 3 questions/topics. If you only have 1 Token, only one of the 3 would be answered.
NPCs will have a small conversation with each character via threads.
This will come in the form of 3-5 back and forth replies. Potentially more replies, but it is unlikely so as to keep it manageable for staff to keep up with. When a moderator is done responding, there will be a message denoting the end of the interaction. This way, players aren't left wondering if there will be additional replies or not.
If your questions metagame, break lore, are impractical, etc., then the NPC will not answer them. A mod will reply in a thread and let you know. Your event token will not be used, since your question won't be answered.
NOTE: Event Tokens are not an in-world item. Characters aren't handing the NPCs tokens to ask questions.
Tokens are a way for mods to manage the workload for NPC interactions and quantify their actions in a canon sense.
Repair the Southern Cardinal Temple
Prompt:
Depict your character(s) performing maintenance on the run down and overgrown Southern Cardinal Temple.
This can be achieved in multiple ways, even more so depending on how your character would do it differently from another character. Are they a super-invested, energetic cleaning machine? A reluctant, here-only-because-I-have-to, frustrated worker? Maybe even a slow-as-molasses, but well-meaning lazy bones?
Here are some suggestions to get you started:
Sweeping the mossy cobblestone bricks, stone pillars, or infusion sites.
Using shears, axes, or shovels to remove overgrowth from the rocks and pillars. (You do not need to own these tools to depict your characters using them.)
Repairing/replacing the mossy cobblestone pedestals, diorite altars, or flooring.
Having a discussion with any of the NPCs, or assisting them in repairing the temples and ritual sites.
Rules
Be sure to familiarize yourself with our [Submission Rules]
You may create multiple entries
Entries cannot be reused for other parts of the event.
Your visual entries can contain multiple characters, as long as every character claiming rewards meets the requirements. Adding a headshot to art or just mentioning another character for a couple of sentences is not enough!
If you submit one entry that meets both the literature and art requirements, that will count as two entries.
Visual Submissions:
There's a maximum of five characters per submission!
Base Requirement: A colored, half body image of each of your characters doing the prompt task. Must include a colored background.
Reward:
Per character: +400 Copper +1 Silver
Per background: +1 Event Token
Bonus Requirement: To receive the bonus rewards, character(s) must be full body instead of half body.
Bonus Reward: Per character: +200 Copper
Literature Submissions:
You can include up to 5 prompts on one document as long as they're clearly separated sections.
Base Requirement: 500 words describing one character doing the prompt task.
Reward: Per prompt: +1 Event Token +400 Copper +1 Silver
Bonus Requirement: To get the bonus rewards, 800 words per character must be met instead of 500.
Bonus Reward: +200 Copper
We're allowing collabs during the (Southern Cardinal Temple) section of this event. This is a test run for tasks and future events. We may adjust these rules in the future!
Each collaborator must make an effort to contribute as evenly as possible for fairness.
All characters must meet the minimum requirements for everyone to receive rewards.
If Player 1 and Player 2 meet the requirements, but Player 3 doesn't, no one will receive rewards.
All characters must meet the bonus requirements if attempting to get the bonus rewards. The same as above, if one person doesn't meet the requirements, no one gets the bonus rewards.
Max 3 Players per collab submission.
Max 1 character per collab player. This means Visual and Literature Collabs can have up to 3 player characters participating.
Visual Art Submissions:
Base Requirement: A colored, half body image of each of your characters doing the prompt task. Must include a colored background.
Reward per Collaborator:
Per character: +400 Copper +1 Silver
Per background: +1 Event Token
Bonus Requirement: To receive the bonus rewards, character(s) must be full body instead of half body.
Bonus Reward: +200 Copper
Literature Submissions:
To submit a collab literature document, please create a Google Doc and indicate each persons part with a unique color for easy grading by mods. This will allow us to tell how much each person is doing and see if they are meeting the word counts.
If there are any corrections needed with your entries, a mod will react to your comment with a ❓ emoji and open a thread to let you know what's wrong and give you a chance to fix it!
Base Requirement: 500 words per character doing the prompt task.
Reward: Per prompt: +1 Event Token +400 Copper +1 Silver (per collaborator)
Bonus Requirement: To get the bonus rewards, 800 words per character must be met instead of 500.
Bonus Reward: +200 Copper
Like all other tasks in Lucerna, you may post visual art to any site that allows mods to view your content without a login.
We require google docs or ArchiveofOurOwn for literature submissions.
To collect rewards, check out the Yearning for More channel in our Discord underneath the "Events" category!
Event I Prompt Token
Once per Character Reward: 1 Metamorph Treat + 1 Dyemorph Treat
For each character you own that participates, they will receive one of each of these. The familiar treat reward is once per character. These treats can be used to customize familiars. Once earned they can be used to customize any familiar you create and are not locked to only being used by the character who earned the treats.
Treats will be transferable from player to player.
You may have noticed that the new NPC Zemi seems to look a little different than the others... That's because he's a rare subspecies called a Dyamotti! The [Motti Subspecies] page has been updated to include them.
This rare subspecies is only available through Infusion and not through the free MYO slots.
