After you have gathered sources for the Research Log, the next step is to read through each source and evaluate it. You must evaluate the following types of sources in this portion of the project:
A book/e-book
A peer-reviewed scholarly journal article
A credible web source
A non-scholarly periodical/newspaper
All of the revised & polished Source Evaluations will be due with your final Research Journal for WP2. You may use these questions below and then add it to the document with your Research Log. Each Evaluation must include the following:
Brief summary - State the title of the work and the author. Briefly discuss the author's main idea and supporting points, in your own words. What is his or her perspective on your topic?
Synthesize - In what ways does this particular source speak to and interact with your other three sources? In other words, if we think of all the sources in your Research Log as being in a conversation with one another, how does this source question, affirm, or contradict your other sources?
Critique - What makes this source scholarly? Delve deeper than you did with your Research Log entries. What makes the author(s) credible (what is their knowledge and expertise on the topic? Schooling? Other major publications)? You might have to do a little research on them for this. How do you know their information is reliable-what sources/studies/other researchers do they cite in their text? Statistics? Facts?
Please make sure that these answers are polished and grammatically correct. This is a professional project you are turning in, not a high school assignment.
