Please turn in your WP3 outlines by the end of class time today. I have already started grading the ones that have been turned in. Please keep in mind that you need to cover everything that is in the bulleted list in the essay description in WP3. I see a lot of people missing where they are linking the solutions to our campus specifically.
A thorough explanation of the origins/background of the issue and your community in academia. At least one paragraph, maybe two.
A discussion of multiple perspectives (a perspective is how or why your issue exists) on the issue (including your own personal experience and perspective). After all, it’s an issue, so there’s bound to be many different views of the problem. These should be multiple paragraphs.
A detailed description of current and proposed solutions for the issue. This should be at least one paragraph.
A strong argument in favor of which solution(s) you think are best, with our campus being a focus. This should be at least one paragraph, maybe two.
First drafts due next Friday 17th, a week from today. For your first drafts, I'd like for you to paragraph out the body paragraphs, not your intro or conclusion. Don't worry about those yet. So your first draft will have the multiple perspectives (a perspective is how or why your issue exists to each source you cite), your personal experience and perspective, and the solutions paragraphed out.
THIS NEXT PART IS IMPORTANT: You don't have to include in-text citations yet, but I do want for you to let me know which sources you will be using in each paragraph. You will be paraphrasing your sources (remember that skill from WP1 where you summarized the author's words into your own?), so please don't copy paste information from your source. My advice is to read the source, jot down the main ideas as you read into your own words, and then turn what you jotted down into a paragraph of your own words. This is a draft, so it can be rough and ugly looking. You can even have this still be in outline format with the pargraphs added into your outline. I mostly want to see that you know which sources will be going where. Also, you will not be required to use all 12 sources in WP3, so don't feel like you have to cram them all in there. You need a minimum of 5, though, to pass.
