Fear Not! Prophets
The whole story of the Bible is about God rescuing His people. He rescued them from dangers they could see and even the danger in their hearts they couldn't see. God sent people long ago called prophets to speak to the people about God. They told them that they sinned and gave them hope that God would rescue them.
Follow up at home…
Read Today we read about one prophet's message to God's people in Isaiah 9:6. Show your kids how to find Isaiah in the Old Testament and read it together.
Talk Isaiah 9:6 isn't our usual Christmas story...but it's so important! The prophet, Isaiah, gave God's people hope that God would be sending a rescuer! Talk about why God's people needed a rescuer and why we still need a rescuer today! (Hint - we all sin.)
Do Make a list of all the words from Isaiah 9:6 that describe Jesus. Talk about other things you know about Jesus and add them to your list. Hang it somewhere to remind you throughout the Christmas season about how wonderful our Savior is!
