The focus on skills can elevate the conversation about the value of higher education. That does not mean that content is not important. It just means there are opportunities to focus on content and skills at the same time. Focusing on the skills students will actually learn and be able to demonstrate helps students and potential students understand the value of a college education.
We know that the number one reason that people go to college these days is to get a good job. So, it makes sense that students want to see a clear pathway to careers. We obviously want them to gain valuable knowledge and skills along the way. The Graduate Profile is a way to be more intentional about explaining these skills to students.
