"Graduates will identify, evaluate, and responsibly use information needed for decision making."
Information literacy includes several nuanced and overlapping skills that lead to an ability to process information and make decisions in ways that employers routinely identify as highly desirable. With more information than ever more readily available than ever before, students must discriminate in terms of credibility and authenticity. They must also develop strategies for filtering information to decide what matters and in what contexts, and then use that information for novel and acceptable purposes.
Employers will expect graduates to synthesize new information and use available data to create new knowledge. Graduates who can acquire and use information responsibly and authoritatively will benefit organizations involved in the knowledge economy.
