OKERA!is an art project and independent platform launched in March 2023 on Siquijor Island, Philippines. OKERA!'s main activities have included the monthly publication of a zine and the organization of an art market. OKERA! ZINE: OKERA! ZINE offers a unique perspective on Siquijor Island, particularly the tourist area of San Juan. Each issue includes local maps, event information, details on upcoming fiestas (local festivals), new shop openings, stories from island residents, and horoscopes relevant to island life—information you won’t find online. The publication is intentionally print-only, with no digital version, and around 500 copies are printed and freely distributed each month at local cafés and guesthouses. OKERA! Art Market:To help sustain its activities and cover printing and paper costs, OKERA! began creating original merchandise. What started as a small sales event for OKERA! goods has expanded since April 2024 into a monthly art market that invites participation from local artists. Vendors include artists selling postcards, stickers, and accessories, curated souvenir shops, vintage clothing sellers, and even a traveling barber. The OKERA! Art Market has become a lively intersection of diverse forms of creativity.
