Dear Student,
Welcome to Joyful Journey Occupational Therapy! We are delighted to have you join our team here. At Joyful Journey, our mission is to facilitate a joyful journey, make meaningful change, and add life to days.
It wasn't that long ago that I was a Deakin University Occupational Therapy student myself and I remember the highs and challenges of practice education/placement vividly. From the nerves before my first day, to the tears of finishing my favourite placement (tears of joy and sadness mind you), placement can be an emotional rollercoaster. It is my sincere hope that your time spent at Joyful Journey OT will be insightful, informative, fun and memorable for all the best reasons.
During your placement, you will have the opportunity to work alongside our dedicated team, gaining hands-on experience in delivering client-centered, neurodiversity-affirming therapy approaches. We believe in fostering a supportive learning environment where you can develop your skills and contribute meaningfully to our clients' journeys.
We look forward to supporting you throughout this rewarding experience.
Warm regards,
Hannah Lees
Director/Senior Occupational Therapist Joyful Journey Occupational Therapy

4. If any of the following is identified as a risk, a written prevention plan is to be created to mitigate:
a. Aggression or Violence
b. Bullying
c. Exposure to Traumatic Content or Events
d. High Job Demands

What to wear, working hours, breaks, and expectations.
JJOT dress code is business casual - this means jeans are ok, but leggings probably aren't. Think professional, but can still roll around on the floor. We recommend you start off wearing your university placement shirt, but you are welcome to transition to casual clothes when you feel confident in the dress code. It is important to always wear your name badge as a student.
Procedures for sick days and leave.
Your health and wellbeing is essential whilst on placement. If you need to take a sick day or leave, as much notice on our end is helpful. Please email your supervisor as soon as possible regarding leave and we will coordinate with you and the university once you feel better if make-up placement time is required.
