Two Jonesboro Kiwanians were honored with club and international awards in 2018. Brad Magee (left) received the Kiwanian of the Year Award, and Matt Silas (right) received a Distinguished Service Award. Both also received Walter Zeller Fellowships. Roy Cooper (left) was presented a Legion of Honor Award Feb. 14, 2017, on the 60th anniversary of active service to the Kiwanis Club of Jonesboro. Making the presentation, which also included a commemorative pin, was club president Matt Silas.

Retired Circuit Judge Larry Boling (left) was presented with a Kiwanis Legion of Honor Award Jan. 10, 2018, by Jonesboro club president Matt Silas. The award recognizes Boling for more than 45 years’ membership and service to the local club. He was president in 1981-82.

Roy Cooper (left), who has been with the Kiwanis Club of Jonesboro for more than 60 years, was honored during the May 30, 2017, meeting with a Walter Zeller Fellowship. Zeller Fellowships are awarded by the Kiwanis International Children’s Fund in support of its Eliminate Project, which is dedicated to stamping out maternal and neonatal tetanus worldwide. It includes a certificate, a lapel pin and medallion. Making the presentation was club president Matt Silas.
Sid Banks recently received a Legion of Honor Award for 45 years of service to the Kiwanis Club of Jonesboro. He officially joined the club on Dec. 22, 1972. He served his second years as president in 2018-19, having first led the club in 1984. Also, Sid has led the Scholarship Committee for most of those years.
