Lee Noel Paul O’Hare rode ten winners over jumps in the first half of the 1990s, spread over four seasons.
His first victory was at Leicester on November 19, 1990, when the three-year-old filly Glebelands Girl beat 16 rivals to land the Junior Selling Hurdle by two and a half lengths. Lee had ridden her on her previous three starts, finishing second once. Just 17 days after their Leicester success they followed up at Uttoxeter. They finished second on their next start together but that was followed by three poor efforts.
It was not until March 27, 1992 that Lee won again. This time it was on Balzac Boy, trained by Jenny Pitman, who went on to supply seven of his winners altogether. Four was the most he had in a season and there were no major victories, although he did land two good prizes at Towcester, most notably the Chris Thornton Silver Fox Handicap Chase on Do Be Brief.
His final success came at Cheltenham on April 20, 1994, when Vitaman, trained by Mrs Pitman, held the challenge of Legendra by half a length in the Rowanside N.H. Flat Race (Division 1). The five-year-old never ran again, nor did Lee renew his licence for the following season.
