What are some things you are most passionate about?
One of the things I'm most passionate about is school spirit, but our school spirit has suffered lately because of academics. Other universities have taken steps to improve the academic experience for their students and I am committed to doing the same with direct input from the student body to bridge the gap and foster a less stressed environment on campus.
What have you done or helped do on campus during your time at JHU?
Last week, I published an article on the Newsletter detailing my plans on Senate. SGA needs senators that are not only transparent, but also have a clear and reasonable sense of direction of what they hope to accomplish during their term. With the ideas in this article as a start, I hope to make the most of my term to tackle academic stress on the planes of grading, student feedback or course quality.
Why did you decide to run for office?
I decided to run for office because I believe that students should be able to enjoy a balanced, low-stress schedule. The stress of academics shouldn't prevent us from exploring new opportunities outside of the classroom or having time to connect with friends and family. Working under the voice of the student body, we can develop a collective plan to reduce stress universally throughout our campus.
What is the first thing you would accomplish if you won your position?
My first goal is to develop a non-mandatory mid semester platform for student feedback on courses. Course improvements shouldn't be made after the semester has ended and students are no longer in that course. They should be made while the course is happening to support students and their learning.
