What are some things you are most passionate about?
I think I am most passionate about making sure that everyone at Hopkins enjoys their years here. Hopkins can be stressful enough and but by tweaking tiny details like reforming the Blue Jay shuttle system or making huge strides to initiate a change in our relationship with the administration, I hope I can help alleviate your stress and improve your experience at Hopkins. Everyone deserves to take so many meaningful memories from their time at Hopkins and I hope I can help with that. What have you done or helped do on campus during your time at JHU?One of my biggest involvements on campus is with Hindu Student Council, especially with one of the biggest events in the fall, Diwali. It is a huge effort that we put on to celebrate our culture and bring a home-y feel to the Hopkins community on Parents Weekend. This past year I was the emcee for the event, and I loved seeing all of my peers enjoy the food and performances by our dance groups.
Why did you decide to run for office?
I decided to run for office because I realized how unfair the student body was actually being treated. I want to establish a more concrete relationship with the administration so they can take our needs more seriously. I honestly did not think it was too much of an issue until I saw how this system really was not built to help us out and keep our interests in mind. I hope by being a senator that I can really change that. I hope that I can establish grounds so that proper communication is mandated between the students and the governing bodies.
What is the first thing you would accomplish if you won your position?
I want to first introduce legislation that would make the SGA-Student Body communication even more fluid. There is a daily announcement email that gets sent out every day so I hope that we can add a section about what happened in SGA meetings. This is a key step and informing the student body about what is happening between us. I want to emphasize that this is just a stepping stone to establishing complete transparency of the dealing of the SGA and the administration, and I look to push more policies in the future.
