What are some things you are most passionate about?
I am passionate about the environment and climate change. Because it is up to us, the next generation, to actually make a change in terms of policies and lifestyle adjustments to mitigate the effects of climate change and the consequent environmental injustice.
I am also passionate about equal representation of all student bodies. As an international student and a transfer student, I feel some campus resources are not as accessible to a significant group of students as others. Especially with the coronavirus outbreak and everything becomes virtual, unable to access some campus resources (such as high speed internet, gym, library, TA sessions, etc) can pose many difficulties to some students, and their voices need to be heard by school administrators when considering future policy change and instilling more support system.
What have you done or helped do on campus during your time at JHU?
I have volunteered my time at stress busters (to offer 10-min back rubs for stressed Hopkins students) and at Youth Library Tutorial to help local children in Baltimore areas who may not have the same educational resources as kids of the same age, from wealthier districts
Why did you decide to run for office?
I want to run for the office because I want to represent a subgroup of students who are often ignored or neglected in Hopkins’ decision making. I believe there are many ways Hopkins can be more accessible and helpful to its students and make a few valuable years of college more valuable experience
What is the first thing you would accomplish if you won your position?
I would put in place some communication platforms (such as facebook, wechat, text message, groupme) for student bodies (and concerned parents) to better reach administrators, faculty, and student organizations. Furthermore, I’ll try to make sure all feedbacks are heard and considered in planning of the future Hopkins experience, both in terms of academics and student resources.
