SGA plays a large part in student organization financing and recognition, and we need to do a better job of it. That begins with better communication with organizations, clearly outlined policies, and listening sessions with organizations to see what we could do better. But that also means looking beyond SGA to advocate for more student-friendly SLI policies (read: it shouldn't take two months to get a reimbursement) and advocating to upper administration for greater student organization funding. Feel free to flag me down/shoot me an email (nmudrak1@jhu.edu) if you ever wanna talk/hear more!
https://tinyurl.com/IlluminateJHU What have you done or helped do on campus during your time at JHU?

Generally this year, I tried to focus on fixing SGA's internal structure so we could better advocate for students. I also spent a lot of time on the university's COVID-19 response, including advocating for the S/U grading policy and getting housing to agree to hold off on packing up student belongings for the majority of students!
Why did you decide to run for office?
Freshman year, I found myself constantly talking with friends about things that I'd like to see changed at Hop but felt powerless to see any of my thoughts actualized. I ran to work on establishing that communication channel for students like me to submit input to the university, and so far it's gone great! If you need anything always feel free to shoot me an email and I can work with you on seeing your concern addressed!
What is the first thing you would accomplish if you won your position?
Student organizations have been completely blindsided by new SGA policies that haven't been communicated down to them. Also, SGA hasn't been supportive of organizations in helping them transition to both their new policies and those of SLI. If elected, I plan on working to put together an email to all student leaders that summarizes all changes that were made this year to how organizations are recognized/funded; student organizations are Hopkins's lifeblood, and they shouldn't be left in the dark!
