0: Thinking

Thinking is a process in our minds that we use to solve problems, do actions, and understand complex ideas. We think to be able to make ourselves understand something and deal with it, often breaking it down and breaking it up into pieces and definitions we know and already understand. Dr. Cabera’s ideas about thinking and the skills required to think are true. Students who have good grades and high GPA’s are not necessarily the best thinkers. They are just good at “school”, memorizing information and regurgitating it back onto a test. This is why some of the best thinkers, the best inventors of our time often did not finish school, although there are some exceptions to that. This is because they see what is happening in school and understand that thinking skills are not being enforced and supported. The education system and the students would be completely different if DSRP were to be implemented. We would be pushing students to expand their skills to a new level and by doing this we are truly preparing students for the real world, a world in where you don’t get told exactly what to do or how to do something. You have to think and understand how a job must be done, and by encouraging these skills in elementary school to graduate school, you are truly preparing the future generation for success.
