Yao Lan is a half-world where vislae are called sacred artist who practice their art as a mixture of both martial and magic. They strive for constant advancement in their art through deep understanding of the world around them as well as their soul within. They do this through combat and meditation.
The orders within this world are recognized but do vary. It is rare that the inhabitants leave the world, but those rare individuals that have are said to have ascended to the heavens.
Vislae, or sacred artist as they are known in Yao Lan, follow themed paths. These paths define how they manifest their magic and apply it. The spells sacred artist cast are called techniques.
Most sacred artist are Weavers and follow specific aggregates based on their paths. Those who focus on the martial aspect of the sacred arts are usually Apostates who are known to turn their enemies attacks back on them. There are some sacred artist who are Makers, known as Soulsmiths, and focus on crafting. A few sacred artist who are more studious are Vances. Those who focus on summoning who are Goetics.
As an example, a sacred artist who follows the Path of Blackflame. They can be in any order depending on how they apply their magic. As a weaver, they will have the fire and challenge or hate aggregates. As a maker, they craft destructive weapons and objects that generate fire and destruction. As a Vance, they cast living spells of fire and destruction. As a Goetic, they summon spirits of living flame or destructive demons shaped as dragons. An Apostate follower of the Path of Blackflame cast spells blasting balls of dark flame who can turn the spells of enemy sacred artist back at them. The Sacred Artist who follow the Path of the Blackflame more than likely has the Caught's Fire's Eye Forte.
