Maude Barlow is an author and activist. She co-founded the Council of Canadians, a citizen's advocacy organisation, as well as the Blue Planet Project which works internationally to realise the human right to water. She was also a founding member of the International Forum on Globalization; an alliance of 60 leading activists, scholars, economists, researchers and writers formed to stimulate new thinking, joint activity and public education in response to economic globalization. She is a proponent of remunicipalisation of water and sanitation services, and has co-authored several books including "Whose water is it anyway? Taking water protection into public hands"
