Dr. Maria Concepción Donoso is the UNESCO Chair on Sustainable Water Security and Director of International Programs at the Florida International University's Institute of the Environment. Previously, she was Director of the Water Division of UNESCO, Director of the Global Water for Sustainability Program (USAID), UNESCO Regional Hydrologist for Latin America and the Caribbean, founding Director of CATHALAC and of the Water Research Center of the Technological University of Panama (CIHH-UTP). She is a member of the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) at the US Academy of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine. She led the International Expert Group that developed and wrote the Water Security Strategy for Phase VIII of UNESCO's Intergovernmental Hydrological Program for the period 2014-2021. In addition, Dr. Donoso has been an advisor and consultant for several government entities, private companies and civil society organizations in numerous countries, as well as international organizations, such as the Inter-American Development Bank, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the World Bank.
