Environmentalism

Tuleyome is a conservation organization that carries out habitat restoration and trail maintenance, but also relies on volunteers for indoor tasks such as clerical work. They are currently seeking individuals and groups for one-time and ongoing projects. See http://tuleyome.org/
The Delta Protection Commission protects, maintains, and enriches local wetlands. Although they are not organizing events at this time, their meetings are open and ongoing and they provide the resources necessary to carry out your own projects and share them with the online community. The Woodland Tree Foundation aims to improve quality of life and environmental health through the planting of trees. They are currently soliciting volunteers for upcoming projects. See https://www.woodlandtree.org/
Animal shelters and sanctuaries
Animal shelters and sanctuaries
The Yolo Co SPCA is located in Davis! They offer different opportunities for volunteering, like event organization, fostering, processing donations, etc. If you don't have time, but still want to support Yolo SPCA, you can do an online donation.
The Solano County SPCA is located in Vacaville. It depends on its volunteer to provide quality care for its rescue animals. If you are interested in volunteering, keep an eye on the Facebook page where they publish volunteer information.
The Orphan Kitten Project is an initiative of UC Davis School of Medicine. If you want to get involved, you can foster, donate or buy merchandise! Also, if you witness a kitten emergency, you can reach the organization using contacting information in their Facebook page.
The California Raptor Center is home of owls, falcon, hawks, vultures and eagles that would not survive in the wild. They also rehabilitate sick birds with the goal of releasing them. They are also a hub of research and education. If you want to help, you can donate, adopt a bird, or volunteer cleaning cages, feeding, etc.

The Yolo Food Bank aims to end hunger and malnutrition in Yolo County. They do so by distributing food to pantries, homeless shelters, and after-school, healthcare, and senior nutrition programs, as well as to individuals and families in crisis. If you want to support their mission you can either donate or volunteer.
The Davis Night Market aims to reduce food waste and food insecurity by recovering food that would go to waste from Davis restaurants after they close, and distribute it to people in need at the Davis Central Park. You can get more information in their Facebook Page.
