The City of Winters is a beautiful town about 20-30 minutes away from Davis. For this reason, a lot of weddings take place here. It is the home of very nice breweries where you can enjoy a pleasant time outdoor drinking beers with friends. It's also close to Putah creek.
You can start your day with a brunch in the Putah Creek Cafe. Then, walk around downtown and visit the Railroad Bridge. Later, you can go to the Green River brewery for a beer and snacks.

One of the most famous close get away destinations of Northern California is Lake Tahoe. During the winter months people go there to do snow sports, like skying or making a snowman. However, if you drive to Lake Tahoe during the winter, make sure you have taken all the precautions to drive when there is snow in the road. During the summer months, people enjoy water activities such as kayaking, floats or swimming.

If what you want is to visit casinos and gamble but you don't have time to go to Las Vegas, then Reno is the closest destination for that kind of entertainment. Reno is known as the "biggest little city in the world" and it's located approximately 22 miles from Lake Tahoe in the State of Nevada.

Northern California is well-known for its wineries. Napa Valley is one of the most famous places, and for that reason is usually more expensive. In the region there are more than 400 wineries. Sonoma Valley is also a famous wine place in Northern California, near San Francisco. It has hundreds of vineyards as well as dairy farms, where you can do cheese tasting. The region also has famous wilderness areas, like the Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve and Bodega Bay.
