2. Korean National Library Services to Persons with Print Disabilities

Abstract & Presentation :

By opening the National Library Support Center for the Disabled as a national library organization in 2007, the Korean government initiated library service policy for disabled people. In 2012, Korea revised the Library Act and established the National Library for the Disabled (NLD) that belongs to the National Library of Korea and has a legal obligation to establish and coordinate national policy for services for the disabled. The NLD is implementing various projects to support library service for the disabled such as collecting and creating library materials for the disabled, establishing a system for sharing materials, providing reading program etc. This paper introduces the main services and future tasks of the NLD.

Since joining the National Library of Korea in 1995, was in charge of reading service, library promotion activities, international exchange and library policy.

Currently working at the Support & Cooperation Division of the National Library for the Disabled since April 2019.
