JICA Chief Representative, Mr. Yoshifumi Omura, will make a presentation about JICA and its contribution to the field of disability worldwide and especially in Egypt.
The objective of the presentation is to increase the awareness about JICA’s contribution to the development process in Egypt in this field and to reiterate the necessity of the Egyptian authorities’ support to push for the ratification of the Marrakesh Treaty and setting the regulations needed to manage the accessibity of the private and public sectors’ publications in Egypt to ensure the success of the Egyptian experience and its sustainability to be the start point for the dissemination of the DAISY publications within the Arabic speaking countries in Africa and the Middle East.
During the presentation, Mr. Omura will explain briefly about JICA and its pillars of cooperation to support the developing countries in the different fields including the basic social services and the support to the persons with disabilities. He will explain JICA’s approach and vision to achieve development in the field of disability and advocating the right to read.
Mr. Omura will then give more focus on JICA’s contribution to the “Project for Improvement of Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities through Improvement of Information Accessibility” in Egypt and the project’s implications on the developmental field and finally the steps that need to be taken to achieve the sustainability of the project and dissemination in the Arabic speaking countries.
The presentation is expected to result in the participants’ awareness on the importance of planning for the sustainability of the project and to support in pushing the Egyptian authorities to take the procedures needed to ratify the Marrakesh Treaty and adopt the regulations for DAISY publications.
