First of all, I'm not a fan of Transformers but I'm a fan of Bumblebee. So I'm really sorry if this review tends to go a bit biased.
Bumblebee tells us about its story, or his story back in 1987 when Optimus Prime commanded him to find refuge on Earth after a massive war against the Decepticons. Alongside the journey of him on Earth, he found Charlie, who is an unlucky teenager, excellent in diving but lost her father. Charlie saw almost everything resemblance of her father in Bumblebee. From the artificial code B-127, Charlie names him Bumblebee.
A bit shocked and exhilarated during the early minutes of the film featuring Bumblebee as speaking, because we all know that he's mute. But then I got involved in an adventurous ride of Bumblebee's waking to life on Earth. Basically the movie is enjoyable, depicting numerous themes in parallel such as parenting, family matters, friendship and also humorous. The film is an absolute treat to all kind of people without taking age as a point.
There's no kissing scenes, no soft porns, yes it is suitable for kids as it must be. This movie moves closer to a woman-centric movie as Charlie and Bumblebee unites in order to stop Decepticons from destroying Earth. But the credit goes a bit more to Charlie as she plays a key role in stopping an attempt to destroy by the Deceptions.
Hailee Steinfeld as Charlie is wonderful, on-par performance while John Cena seems whether he can't act or he was exaggerating because he often makes me cracked only his extra stern face. Otis fulfilled a functional family that seems a bit apart, with bad words by Charlie's mom became a vital turning point. To be frank I am joyful upon this film release. And it ticks my expectation box, moderately.
The cinematography is simply outstanding, the camera movement is resolute with mesmerising sceneries and endearing views. Even though the timeline was 1987 and the featured songs are understandably oldies but they were evergreen and memorably suitable with the light yet meaningful plot. Travis Knight you are the man.
before I watch it in the cinema, I jump into another early review. It states that bumblebee is one of the best films among the transformers series. I attest to that.
Bumblebee is a genius, with the radio in his stomach he made it as the world was his. He is goddamn cute!
4/5.
