Overview
Sector-118 is the main setting for the story. While there are two separate governing bodies within Sector-118 (the central city and the Slums), they are technically still seen as a whole entity to outsiders. Sector-118 is called many names; to outsiders it is known as "The Sanctuary" while people from the sector refer to it simply as "The City." The names can get a bit confusing, so below I have listed the names, their meaning, and their usage.
Sector-118: The official name of the settlement, refers to the entirety of the Sector; used in official documentation
The Sector: Casual name for Sector-118; used by citizens and outsiders.
The Sanctuary: Another name for Sector-118, mainly refers to the central city, but is also used when referring to the sector as a whole; mostly used by outsiders.
Central-118: Refers to the central city of Sector-118; is the official name used for the central city since the Slums broke away.
The City: The casual name for the central city of Sector-118; used by the citizens.
The Slums: Refers to the outer ring of Sector-118, used by the citizens.
Being the most advanced sector to date, Sector-118 is a hotspot for tourism. People from around the world flock to Sector-118 to get a chance to live the lavish lifestyle. While Sector-118 is very prosperous, it houses tons of issues. Unlike other sectors, Sector-118 is structured in a hierarchical fashion; as you get closer to the center of the city, the richer and more advanced it gets. This is further distinguished by the "layers" of the city, with the slums situated on the ground layer while the middle and upper classes are on the upper layer (see map to left). This creates a physical divide between the rich and poor.
The Slums and Central-118 act as two separate entities and life between the two are vastly different. In order to avoid confusion, separate pages have been made for Central-118 and the Slums (below).
History
History
Sector-118 is one of many major cities in the year 21XX. It was established long before the start of the story and rapidly grew in population. One of the most prosperous sectors to date, Sector-118 is home to many technological advancements and one of the first sectors to successfully implement AI into daily life. Android technology has practically taken over human society in Central-118; you can't turn a corner without running into one of theses humanoid machines. Because of this, it has became a popular tourist spot, so the city is always living in the limelight.
Early in it's history, rich businessmen took control of the government and spread their influence throughout the entire sector, promising technological advancement and further development for the benefit of all citizens. This appealed to the masses and support for the greedy businessmen skyrocketed, eventually leading to the increased development of AI technology and it's implementation. However this was all a major scheme for these businessmen to grow richer and increase their power. With the rapid implementation of AI into Sector-118, the government would soon have a tight grip on almost all aspects of society. This would be done through strict laws, especially concerning the rights of androids.
Many people disagreed with the governments tyrannical rule, leading to mass rebellions throughout the city, mostly from the lower class. Eventually, those in the Slums would break away from the central city and establish their own form of government. Unconcerned with the loss of the Slums, the main government of Sector-118 leaves them to their own devices and continues on as normal.
