Jade's Workshop is a major location in the Slums. Home to Cyrus, Jade, and Zero; the Workshop serves as a safe haven for the three while also being their base of operations. Jade gained possession of the workshop following her creator's death as a “parting gift” and officially set up home there prior to the start of the story.
The workshop is pretty small, consisting of two stories with rooftop access. It is located in a remote location deep within the Slums, so it is not easy to find.
The workshop was originally a second lab owned by Jade's creator but was never used due to poor location and lack of resources. After taking up a job in the government's Advanced Robotics Department, the workshop saw even less usage and was turned into a storehouse.
Following her creator's death, Jade gained ownership of the workshop and moved in to escape the suffocating life of the city. Jade redid most of the workshop, removing a lot of the equipment and keeping only basic human and android medical tools and amenities.
Currently, Jade lives in the workshop with Cyrus and Zero, using it as a base of operations for Jade's Trade Network and other work.
Jade's Trade Network is a Sector wide underground trade market independently run by Jade and ??? with the help of Cyrus and Zero. The Network was set up by Jade soon after she moved to the Slums as a form of financial support for her. In the beginning she was just selling to a few customers in the city; simple resources and scrap for a quick buck. Eventually, however, she was able to turn it into an entire underground operation where people from both the City and the Slums are able to buy and sell a variety of goods.
The network is set up in a fashion where people can buy and sell. Originally, Jade was the only dealer, and therefore the only person to buy or sell to. Not only this, but she was very hard to get in contact with due to living in the Slums, so the network was not very well known. Wanting to expand, Jade sought out hiring new dealers from both the City and the Slums to sell under the network. Jade would facilitate customers for the dealers while the dealers would give a portion of their profit to Jade, making it a win-win situation. With this new system in place, the network began to expand at insane speeds and people from all over were flocking to buy goods from the network. Since then, Jade has set up a system that allows the network to sustain itself even if she is not managing it 24/7.
The Network sells a variety of goods that are not easily accessible, such as; Androids, Android parts, scrap, government intel, medicine, weaponry, etc.; making it a hotspot for trading.
The hierarchy of the Trade Network was established by Jade herself, however she believes each class of the networks plays a vital role in its success and prosperity and therefore each class should be treated with equal respect. Each class has its own job within the network, and are all managed by Jade, the Co-Owner, the managers, and the assistants. Below is an explanation of what each class does and their role in the network:
Owner/ Co-Owner: Head managers of the network; monitors sales, manages and distributes dealers, distributes informants, distributes middle men, etc. The Owners are typically busy all day, managing the network and making sure everything is running smoothly. They also are in constant lookout for possible breaches and government interference; making sure the network is safe and secure. Owners hire on and pay all workers a hefty sum based on the profits gathered from the dealers (a portion of profit gained from dealers is given to the owners which is then distributed to the other workers under the network).
Managers & Assistants: Works under the Owner and Co-Owner; after dealers, informants, and middle men are assigned their jobs from the Owner and Co-Owner, the managers will assist them, providing support and the resources necessary to carry out their work. They will also help manage future assignments in place of the Owner and Co-Owner when necessary. There are two types of assistants, owner assistants and manager assistants. Owner assistants work directly with the Owner and Co-Owner to help manage and complete tasks. Manager assistants work with and help managers in a similar fashion.
Informants: Informants work under the Owner and Co-Owner however they work on level with the managers/ assistants. Informants are crucial to the network since they gather intel on competitors, possible breaches, the government, etc. Usually, any intel they find would be reported directly to the managers or assistants which would then by relayed to the Owner and Co-Owner; however, in dire situations, intel can be reported directly to the Owner and Co-Owner.
Middle Men: Middle men work under managers and assistants. They are an intermediary between the dealers and customers. Middle Men are assigned by managers to specific dealers in order to sort out any issues or disagreements that may arise from customers. The vast majority of Middle Men can be found in the Hub.
Dealers: Dealers work under the managers and assistants. They sell goods directly to customers and payout a portion of their profits to the owners. Dealers are hired on after rigorous background checks done by managers and assistants; if a prospective dealer is flagged by a manager for suspicious activity, the Owners will conduct a further background check in order to confirm or deny any suspicions, after which they will either be denied or hired.
Customers: While not working for the network, they still play a vital role in the success of the network. Anyone can be a customer, whether you're from the City or the Slums does not matter. However, in order to gain access to the network, you not only need to know of its existence, but you must also possess a "key" which will give you access to the main hub of dealers. After gaining access to the main hub, you can either purchase goods being sold there, or request a specific dealer/ good you desire.
The Trade Network easily has thousands of employees, so it is impossible to know all of them. Below is the hierarchy of the network and who works under each class. Specific names have been listed for main characters.
