Jade is one of the three main protagonists in the story. She is an autonomous android that lives in the Slums with Zero and Cyrus in her Workshop.
Jade runs a Trade Network between multiple Android facilities both in Central-118 and in the Slums. Most of her deals are done within the underground facilities in the Slums, however she does have vast connections in Central-118 as well. Jade's trade deals mostly consist of Androids, Android parts, scrap, government intel, medicine, weaponry, etc. Her Trade Network was setup to help all Androids in Sector-118, so to many she is known as a savior.
Jade is a very lively, mature, and caring individual. She's very girly and enjoys fashion and makeup. Being very energetic, Jade is a direct contrast to Cyrus's cold nature and Zero's meek behavior. She tries to make things fun for the two of them and suggest fun activities for the three of them to do together whenever they aren't busy. Out of the main three, Jade is the most reasonable, acting as the "adult" of the group, however Jade is very emotional at times and has her moments where she can be unreasonable. Still, she tries her best to look out for Cyrus and Zero since she cares for them very deeply.
Despite her energetic, caring nature, Jade is quick to change moods. She can be quick to anger and will shut people out whenever they strike a nerve. She sticks to her ideals very strictly and is not easy to persuade at all. She tends to argue with people a lot because of this, especially Cyrus. These arguments between the two can be rather serious, however Jade is quick realize when she is in the wrong and apologizes sincerely. Jade also tends to lose sight of the bigger picture when getting caught up in her emotions and will make rash decisions which end up her hurting her more in the end.
Jade is extremely smart, having learned a lot of what she knows from her creator. She particularly enjoys coding, data science, and basic tinkering. While she does know a lot about AI and androids, she isn't super skilled in with them, so she tends to avoid it. Jade gets very absorbed in her work when she gets in the zone and will completely ignore people or get upset at them whenever she is bothered.
Jade's extremely emotional behavior has caused a lot of strife in her relationships. Namely between her and her creator. Jade has the tendency to run and avoid things she doesn't like, and this is extremely evident with her past.
Backstory
Not much is actually know about Jade's past. She keeps it hidden for some reason. Whenever the topic has been brought up she becomes visibly distressed by it. All that is known so far is that she had a falling out with her late creator, the name of which she hasn't even revealed. After her creator's death, Jade moved to the Slums to escape the suffocating daily life of the city.
Present
After moving to the Slums, Jade needed to find a way in order to support herself financially while also staying as discreet as possible. Jade used her connections in the City in order to set up a vast Trade Network throughout Sector-118. She runs this Trade Network almost entirely on her own with support from Cyrus, Zero, and other individuals. Most of her time is spent on managing the Network, so she hardly has any free time. However, when she does have free time she will often go on what she likes to call "collection runs". These consist of her going out in the Slums and scavenging for scrap, spare parts, old machines, or even abandoned androids in the trash or being sold at the Market.
Jade will often meet with old friends or collogues of her creator in order to secure deals or expand the Trade Network. Most notably is Lily's creator, who she meets rather often. They are pretty close friends and will often share data and exchange resources whenever necessary.
Technical Skills
While Jade does have some understanding of robotics, she's not very knowledgeable in it. She learned a little from her creator, yet she never had a deep interest in robotics. The closest she ever got to learning advanced robotics was learning basic engineering and machine repair from her creator. So, while she can preform basic repairs and restoration to androids, she isn't all knowing and a lot of repairs fall out of her area of expertise. This is why, for example, Jade can't repair Cyrus's cooling system since it's rather complex. This is also why many of the androids Jade finds need to be scrapped; they are often far too damaged for her to repair.
Beyond robotics, Jade is excellent when it comes to machine repair and tinkering. While it may seem like a similar skill to robotics, they are extremely different. Machine repair tends to require a lower skill level and deals mostly with simple repairs or making enhancements to premade machines. An example of this is the repair and enhancement done to Cyrus's pistols.
Trade skills
Through her Trade Network, Jade has developed exceptional people skills. She is an incredible negotiator and has a keen sense for good deals. Not only this, but she has also developed great managerial skills, both in managing people and time. Jade is very intimidating to deal with and often uses tactics such as blackmail and manipulation in order to achieve her goals.
She often uses these skills outside of trading as well.
Jade also has a number of abilities only held by androids such as thermal vision, night vision, object scanners, access to information databases, etc.
Cyrus and Jade arguable have the closest relationship within the story. Jade has been a form of support for Cyrus on multiple different levels and Cyrus in turn does the same.
Jade first learned of Cyrus's existence from her creator. She was surprised to learn that another autonomous android such as herself was being developed and was more than excited to meet her. However, the likelihood of that happening at the time was very slim. It wasn't until years later when Cyrus was officially built that Jade would ever get the chance to meet her. Dr. Stephens contacted Jade asking if she would be willing to house Cyrus should anything go wrong in the city (this would've been something Dr. Stephens would ask Jade's creator, but she had already passed away). Jade happily agreed to this proposal.
When they finally first met, it was when Nathan had brought Cyrus to the Workshop shortly after Dr. Stephens's death. Cyrus was in a depressive state and was unresponsive to anyone. It was obvious to Jade that she had experienced immense trauma and grief from her creator's passing. Jade tried her absolute best during this time to support and help Cyrus through her suffering, but most of her attempts fell on def ears. Jade decided it was best if she tried to distract Cyrus from her creator's death for the time being, just until she was able to address it properly, so she brought Cyrus along during one of her collection runs. During the run, they found an abandoned android and brought it back to the Workshop to repair. Cyrus was disturbed by the fact that androids are treated so horribly, however she was amazed by Jade's determination and tenacity to repair them and give them a second chance at life.
After repairing the android, Cyrus approached Jade asking if she would be able to "fix" her as well. Jade was confused by this question and asked what she meant, to which Cyrus explained that over the past week she has been experiencing something she never felt before. A feeling that was lingering and that no matter what she did she couldn't move past it. Cyrus explained it's been present ever since her creator's death and believes that during the escape she got damaged. Jade quickly realized that Cyrus was referring to her grief that she was experiencing; Cyrus just didn't know what grief was. Jade took her time to carefully explain grief in terms that Cyrus would understand. Carefully addressing the pain Cyrus feels and letting her know that while it may take a while to heal, that she would be there to help her through it.
Ever since the heart to heart the two had, they have grown extremely close. The bond they share is extremely deep and they are willing to do practically anything for each other, much to the dismay of the other at times. They do argue sometimes, but it is often in good faith as they are concerned for each other's safety. While they both have difficulty opening up to other people, it is not something they struggle with between each other. They both can be very honest with each other; even if they may not fully understand the extent of what the other is experiencing; they are still more than willing to listen and offer support.
Jade believed that she would be fine on her own. Following her creator's death, Jade did her best to keep everyone at arms distance, never letting anyone get too close. From the androids she repairs to the people she's knowns for years, nobody has ever gotten a close look into Jade's life. That was until she met Cyrus. Being the first autonomous android she ever met, Jade was immediately infatuated with Cyrus. However, seeing her despair consume her made Jade want to take care of and protect Cyrus even more. She does her best to support Cyrus in every way she can since she knows how cruel the world can be to androids, especially autonomous androids like them. The understanding and care they have for each other is truly unmatched and Jade has a deep affection for Cyrus that nothing can challenge. Jade can't see a life without Cyrus, which is why she gets so upset at Cyrus's selfless and reckless behavior. She hates seeing Cyrus hurt and wants nothing more for her to be safe and happy.
There might be something more going on between them in Jade's mind, but Cyrus is oblivious to this fact.
Jade was skeptical of Zero when they first met; mostly because old models such as Zero are never made to be autonomous unless they were government produced. She believed that housing Zero posed a risk not only to her Trade Network, but also Cyrus. However, her doubts were quickly resolved, as Zero did not seem to be government owned and, besides that, she lost her memory anyway.
Jade and Zero quickly grew close as the "adults" of the group. Zero's exceptional work ethic and determination was extremely help for Jade and allowed the two of them to bond fairly easily. They often spend a lot of time together data sorting, planning, and managing trade deals from within the Workshop. Zero's deep understanding for emotions also caused the two of them to grow close. Jade usually keeps to herself in most situations, mostly due to never having anyone to open up to emotionally, however, Zero has become someone that Jade can rely on deeply, and in turn, Jade does the same for her.
Jade has been involved in Lily's creation from the very beginning. She is a long time friend of Lily's creator, and has been assisting him in her creation from the start; providing scrap and technical support.
Lily see's Jade as a Auntie of sorts, however they act more like siblings than anything. Because Lily is very mature for her age she is able to keep up with Jade's conversations very easily, so the two often talk about life and other random things when Jade visits. Lily also likes to mess around with Jade, much like how a little sister would mess around with her big sister. Jade falls for Lily's antics most of the time, however she would never openly admit this. Needless to say, the two get along very well.
Jade never met Dr. Stephens in person, but she knows of him through her creator. The two used to work together before Dr. Stephens defected from the government, never to be seen again.
From what she heard from her creator, Jade sees Dr. Stephens as a respectable man and extremely dedicated roboticist. She holds him in high regard, especially since he sacrificed his life for Cyrus's sake.
A-1 has yet to run into Jade, however she knows of her existence. This was brought up during one of A-1's conversations with Cyrus, much to Cyrus's surprise. A-1 holds no ill will towards Jade either, however she has warned that Jade "watches where she steps", as some people have their eyes on her.
Nathan and Jade are fairly close. Because Dr. Stephens was in hiding, he left a majority of negations to Nathan, many of these being with Jade. The two met a lot while Dr. Stephens was still alive; setting up safeholds, completing deals, and securing transfer plans. They became friends as a result.
Jade's relationship with her creator is extremely complicated. Jade never talks about her creator and avoids the topic whenever it comes up. She seems to hold some resentment towards her creator for an unknown reason, but she can't seem to entirely hate her creator either.
Whatever happened between them seems to have hurt Jade deeply and is something that she can't forgive, even after her death.
Jade was the first character whose purpose was purely for this story. Unlike Cyrus and Zero, Jade came as a result of the story being developed rather than being made for a school project.
Because of this, she is also the first character to get a full reference sheet.
Jade is actually the hardest character for me to write. This is because a lot of her motivations come from her past, which (for the purpose of the story) needs to remain hidden for the time being. Not only this, but Jade's logic and morals strays the most from Cyrus and Zero, so she often acts in direct conflict of them.
Jade is largely inspired by Lisa Imai from BanG Dream! Girls Band Party, Wakana Morinaga from Can't Defy The Loney Girl, Mahiru Tsuyuzaki from Shōjo☆Kageki Revue Starlight, and Yasumi Utatane from The Many Sides of Voice Actor Radio.
Jade's past is the most thought out and completed currently, however this is due to connecting her story with some of my other OCs which I created back in middle school.
Jade's hair is dyed and cut by herself.
