Species: Humanoid AI
Age: Late 20s to early 30s (yrs. since creation unknown)
Sex: F
Height: 5’7ft
Birthday: Unknown
Occupation: N/A (currently helping Jade and Cyrus)
Status: Active (repaired)
Zero is one of the three main protagonists in the story. She currently lives with Cyrus and Jade in the Workshop, helping with simple tasks such as cleaning and data sorting.
Cyrus and Jade found Zero trashed in the Slums during one of their collection runs. Despite being an old model, they took her back to be repaired since she was in decent shape. However, once activated, it became clear that Zero was far advanced despite her age. Zero was completely autonomous, just like Cyrus and Jade, but she had no memory of who she was or where she came form.
At first, Zero is extremely cautious and terrified of the newfound situation she finds herself in. She acts very manically trying to escape from Cyrus and Jade, but eventually she calms down after getting a better grasp of the situation.
Zero is meek by nature; always the last to voice her opinions and tends to go along with the crowd. She tries her best not to get in people's way and is more attune with helping and assisting people rather than doing things on her own. Because of this, Zero is extremely accommodating and helpful, making her pretty easy to manipulate. Zero also lacks self confidence and conviction, but she is working to have more confidence in herself.
Her kind nature makes her extremely easy to get along with. Whenever someone has troubles, Zero is usually the first to take notice and lend a helping hand. She a great care taker is actually very mature despite her meek personality. She acts more akin to a kind, "older sister".
Backstory
???
Present
She was found by Cyrus and Jade in a back alley deep in the Slums during one of their collection runs. After being repaired, Zero realized that she couldn't remember anything about her past; the only thing she could remember was that she is called Zero. Having nowhere left to go, and fearing that she may be destroyed if left on her own, Cyrus and Jade let Zero live with them in the Workshop until Zero recovers her memories.
According to Jade (and confirmed by Zero), Zero appears to be a very old model, dating anywhere between 20-30 years old.
Zero spends all of her time in the Workshop, assisting Jade and Cyrus in their work. She doesn't go out often since she hasn't been fully repaired and is easily identifiable as an android. While this doesn't matter too much in the Slums, they want to be safe rather than sorry. Zero doesn't mind not being able to go out, since she is more than happy to have a place to safely live.
Emotionally Perceptive
While Cyrus is very perceptive of people's body language and facial expressions, Zero is more perceptive of people's emotions. She is able to take what she sees from a person's facial expression or body language and immediately understand what emotion they're feeling. This may seem rather simple, but for an android this is an exceptional ability. Zero is also extremely empathic and is great at giving emotional support or advice to anyone who needs it.
Practical skills
Along with her keen emotional sense, Zero has exceptional cleaning and managerial skills. She has an obsession with keeping things tidy around the Workshop, so whenever she isn't helping Jade or Cyrus out she is often cleaning or organizing.
Zero also just has a great work ethic. Whatever she's working on she always gives her 100% and completes everything in a timely manner. This has been extremely helpful for Cyrus and Jade since the two are always so busy.
Zero also has a number of abilities only held by androids such as object scanners and access to information databases. Zero's abilities are much more limited than Cyrus and Jade due to her age and the fact that she is very damaged.
Cyrus was a huge form of support for Zero after she was repaired. Cyrus was the one to offer Zero a place to stay and fought for her when Jade disagreed with the suggestion. Zero stuck close to Cyrus in the beginning, often hiding behind her because she knew Cyrus would protect her if needed. Cyrus didn't really mind too much, and did her best to reassure Zero that she would be safe in the Workshop. Eventually, Jade warmed up to Zero and she began to open up more.
Cyrus and Zero have since formed a close friendship and hold high respect towards each other. Cyrus finds it admirable that despite having lost everything, Zero does her best to be optimistic about her current situation (unlike Cyrus, who shut herself down after losing her creator). Not only this, but Zero's determination and work ethic have been extremely helpful to both Cyrus and Jade, so she is appreciative of Zero's abilities.
Zero deeply admires Cyrus, she believes Cyrus is strong in both body and mind. She often wishes that she could be more like Cyrus, but understands that it would be hard to live up to that ideal. Still, Zero does her best to support and help Cyrus and Jade in any way she can, especially because she feels that she needs to repay Cyrus for everything she has done for her. Cyrus and Zero's close friendship allows them to be open with each other; they feel like they can be their true selves and the two often slack off and mess around whenever they hang out.
Zero is meek by nature, but she was even more so whenever Jade first repaired her. Zero could tell from the start that Jade did not like her, or at least that she wasn't very fond of her. Zero did her best to avoid Jade and do as she asked. However, it wasn't long until Jade warmed up to Zero and the two became close friends.
Jade and Zero quickly grew close as the "adults" of the group. Zero's exceptional work ethic and determination was extremely help for Jade and allowed the two of them to bond fairly easily. They often spend a lot of time together data sorting, planning, and managing trade deals from within the Workshop. Zero's deep understanding of emotions also allowed the two of them to grow close. Jade usually keeps to herself in most situations due to never having anyone to open up to emotionally. However, Zero has become someone that Jade can rely on emotionally and, in turn, Jade does the same for her.
Zero has yet to meet Lily in person, however she hears about Lily a lot from Jade and Cyrus. Zero says that Lily reminds her a lot of someone she used to know, but she doesn't know who that person may be, she just feels a sense of familiarity.
Zero was the second character I made for this story, after Cyrus.
Much like Cyrus, Zero was originally created for my high school art exhibition.
Zero was originally supposed to be a extremely minor character, with just one appearance in Cyrus's backstory, however I ended up liking her design so much that I made her an official character with Cyrus and Jade.
Zero is a name that ultimately means "nothing" or "empty". Despite the negative connotations, the name actually has positive implications such as "rebirth" or "renewal".
While I did choose Zero's name because of its meaning, I also chose to name her after the Creepypasta "Zero" because she is one of my favorite Creepypasta's ever.
Zero is my favorite design and story-wise.
She also has had the most design changes out of the main three (and will possibly get a redesign soon).
Zero is partially inspired by Mikan Tsumiki from Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair.
