The Graphic Novel

In addition to being a fantastic novel, The Handmaid's Tale was adapted into a graphic novel, with artwork completed by Renée Nault. It is an excellent way to familiarise yourself with the novel, as well as great practice for analyzing visual texts. The TV Series

Recently, Hulu adapted Atwood's novel into a TV series with the same name. Season one of the TV series follows the novel, with some changes. Both the novel and the first season of TV series end with the same cliffhanger, but the TV series, now in its fifth season, continues the story. Watch the trailer to the left. 

The Movie

Not long after the novel was written, it was adapted into a movie. This adaptation has some excellent scenes, such as the final section's Salvaging. Watch the trailer to the right.
