Level Three Skills and Resources
Level Three Definition:
Level Three is your destination! It’s the conclusion of your argument where the point that you’ve been trying to prove has finally been proven as a result of your analysis at levels one and two.
At this stage in our analysis, we prove our claims by explaining why our analysis of the text is significant. For example, we might have analysed the effects of authorial choices (Level 1) and the their impact on the text (Level 2) to conclude that the male characters have been characterised as stoic and assertive. With our Level Three analysis, we could state the significance of this by explaining that the text reinforces traditional masculine gender roles. When thinking of the ways that our analysis is significant, we could consider:
The Development of Ideas of Themes
Social, Cultural, or Historical Context
Representation
Presenting Global Issues
Reflecting or Subverting Genre/Artistic Movement
The Intended Purpose
The Target Audience
