“ A misfit group of swamp animals try to journey out of their safe community in hopes of finding the myth that is “human beings” only to be secretly turned back by the village elder.
OVERVIEW:
Deep within the forest ,we find ourselves in a quiet and often boring swamp. The community that dwells within this is a mix of various animal families who work together doing tasks to keep the swamp running smoothing & more importantly keeping them hidden. In this swamp lives a 15 year old frog Lokachari, who has been experiencing strange and intense dreams concerning “mysterious beings” encouraging him to come find them. After a series of unsatisfying answers to what the dreams mean, Lokachari decides he’s going to leave the swamp, something no one has ever done before. Despite his parents' wishes, he packs some things, sneaks out of the house, and makes off on his journey in the middle of the night. As he starts to leave the swamp, to his surprise, his ragtag group of friends decide that they wouldn’t let him make this journey alone. So the group of friends make their way out of the swamp grass walls to find the answers they're looking for.
Waking up to their children’s disappearance, the concerned parents of the children turn to the leader of the community, to find their missing children. Bob reassuring the stressed crowd that he will return them quickly and safely. Behind the scenes, Bob wants no knowledge of the outside world to be known. He orders his number two, William, to “ hunt them down and bring them back, and if they do actually find anything…they don’t come back.”
STRUCTURE:
The best comparison I would have for this show is if a Finding Bigfoot show met Avatar: The Last Airbender. The show relies on the troupe as an overall goal for our protagonists, however on the long journey they approach different locations & people are met with different scenarios and problems, to which they either receive help for their own journey or help the people in need. Each different place they travel to, the community/people living there have a different belief of what the “human beings” are, and give our group new insights and directions for the next place.
CHARACTERS:
Lokachari- If I could describe this character in one word it would be: ALL SMILES The young frog is the self-pronounced leader of the misfit swamp group. Lokachari is who’s main journey we are following throughout this story. For the past couple years, he has been experiencing these intense dreams of “human beings”. At first he chalked them up as mere weird dreams, but as the dreams intensified he could no longer help but go find his answers. The name Lokachari actually means “wanderer of the Earth”. However, due to him wanting answers so badly, he is often very naive and almost ALWAYS believes whatever anyone tells him regarding the “human beings”. Due to his deep desire to find these answers it often leads the group down a dangerous task or mission. His reasoning for finding the answers though doesn’t come from a place of wanting power, but from pure innocence of curiosity.
Lokachari truly does have a heart of gold. He formed his misfit ground of friends from other kids who were bullied or picked on. Without him, there would be no friend group. He always sees the needs of others, not only of those in his friend ground but of strangers along the road. He is a total social butterfly, wanting to know each and everyone’s personal story. He often focuses on the needs of others, even disregarding his own mental/physical health.
Bubby- Lokachari’s best friend in the world. Similar to the Amazing World of Gumballs’ Darwin, Bubby is also a fish sidekick, however cannot breathe or walk outside of water. Lokachari & Bubby are truly two peas in a pod, & are inseparable. Bubby is more than supportive of Lokachari’s quest, and is often encouraging him in times of need. Being a fish, Bubby is limited to being carried in his bowl, he’s often seen as a crutch for the group and struggles with feeling like a burden for everyone else. It doesn’t help when he also is met with constant jokes about who is taking care of him today. Despite his disability, Bubby is often very helpful for the group and doesn't let his physical problem stop him.
Diesel- Diesel is that one friend who your mom asks,” is that Weird so-&-so”. Diesel is a turtle who is more shy and quiet in the group. He doesn’t talk a lot, but often when he does it’s either hilariously out of pocket or super meaningful/serious. It’s hard for him to open up to others, but his friend group, especially Lokachari, understands him very well. After his parents both tragically died, besides the support from Lokachari and his family, Diesel has been taking care of himself ever since. Without having parents, Diesel is very reckless and out of control at times. He will do dumb and dangerous activities, resulting in multiple cracks and bandaids in his shell. Despite being a turtle, there’s nothing more that Diesel loves than going fast. Diesel is very tech savvy, being able to construct, build, and fix things to make them go very, very, fast. This need to go fast may have something to do with his desire to outrun his past.
Sloane- Sloane is the definition of a “TomBoy”. She was raised in a family with four brothers, she has been wrestling in the mud, and talking smack every since she can remember. She isn’t afraid to speak her mind, and will tell it to your face straight up. Despite this she always does mean well and has a heart for others. She loves adventure and to bring a smile to everyone’s face. She is very slick and agile, and is by far the most athletic one in the group. However, she has always felt like an outcast that doesn’t fit in. She doesn’t fit in with other girls because she never dresses or acts like them. She gets frustrated at the friend group because they don’t truly understand her problems, and won’t bring it up, chalking it up as a” mammal problem”. Sloane says she only considers the friend group as brothers, turning down Rocco constantly, she does have a secret crush on Lokachari, that he is too naive to notice.
Rocco- Every group needs a muscle, and for this group that is none other than Rocco. Being the youngest brother of 7 gator brothers, Rocco has been bred to compete in everything and prove himself. Rocco desperately wants attention and approval from others, and often does elaborate actions to feed his ego. The problem of Rocco seeking attention comes from his deep desire to get his fathers approval more specifically to hear that his father is proud of him. Rocco is often a “jackass”. He is often obnoxious and makes rude jokes to other members of the group and to other people. He especially will insult others and possibilily lead to violence if his low intelligence is ever questioned. While he may be a jerk at times, no matter what he will always have his friends backs. If someone is in trouble, he’s the first one swinging. While being almost constantly shut down, Rocco will at times make grand gestures to get the approval of Sloane, but mainly because he wants to be the one dating the only girl in the group. However, he is too much of a jerk to really have the love of her.
Orville- Orville is the founding father of the swamp community. On the surface, Orville is a kind hearted, silly platypus who made this community to protect these people from the dangers of the world. However, there is so much more that meets the eye. Orville is the secret villain within the story. He sees the people as his subjects that are beneath him and himself as this royal all-powerful. He’s worked hard behind the scenes to keep everyone within the grass walls of the swamp, and knowledge of the outside out. Orville is also the oldest member in the community so most of the creatures don’t remember a time outside the walls. But he does. Due to his awkward appearance he was constantly mistreated and mocked. Furthermore, he was actually captured and imprisoned in a zoo/sanctuary. He says it has horror stories from his past that he was tortured and tormented. He actually escaped and actually also helped William escape as well from their imprisonment. In their fear they fed into the forest to build this isolated community for their own. He wants to protect his fantasy world at all costs.
Mr. William - Mr. Willaim is the creepiest bird known to any animal, the shoebill.William is a creature of very few words and even less emotions. His glossy white eyes that don’t blink and his off putting way he stays still sends chills up your spine. Mr. William is Orville’s number two and right hand man. While is a loyal servant to Orville’s to something that happened in the past, he has become more and more irritated by the constant barking orders, building more and more tension between the master and servant. Mr. William is tasked with the orders to find the children before they find any real information and bring them back with any means necessary. If the children do find real evidence of the “humans” he is given permission to “take them out.”
KEY LOCATIONS: (One paragraph per location)
What are the backdrops to the story? What does the world look like (visually and emotionally)? Make sure these have purpose!
Create a sense of what the world can be.
The Swamp- Population of only about 150 creatures, the swamp is a safe haven for the people that live here. It is completely surrounded by tall grass walls. The homes of the animals are made on large lily pads and within different large rocks and trees within it. It is a bland and easy going neighborhood. The water is basically used as the streets, either swimming or by boat to travel. However there are several fish families underneath the water level that are a part of the community as well.
Monastery of the Rodentians - Founded by the humble mouse St. Squeaks, the monastery serves as a humble home for the mice brothers that serve there. The land includes a chapel at its center with several large halls surrounded by it and one lonely watchtower in the nearby distance. These halls serve multiple purposes, sleeping, dining, and making various goods such as: beer, chocolate and soap. However, to the knowledge of few, there are secret tunnels underneath the grounds for shady activities.
The Outskirts - The Outskirts are run-down swamps that have been destroyed by humans by deforestation. There is little water and resources. Most of the place is covered in mud. Food is limited, and often a lot of stealing within the community. Many of the creatures that stay here are disabled, sick, or poor and can’t leave for various reasons. It is truly the poorest or the poor.
Fake World- The Fake World, is an artificial man-made swamp. The plants that are in this place are all fake and rubber. When you are present here, it just gives an out-putting feeling. It feels like you are never home, that you are in a stranger’s house. The various animals that live there are all isolated from each other, and are terrified to interact with each other, let alone strangers.
3-5 EPISODES:
Pilot- Due to his intense dreams, 15 year old frog Lokachari goes crazy within his community asking if anyone has insight to his mysterious messages. After receiving answers that didn’t satisfy him, he decides to leave the swamp and find the answers he's looking for. Not letting him go alone, his misfit group of friends: Bubby, Diesel, Rocco, & Sloane, chose to go with him. The leader of the community, a platypus named Orville, gets news of this and “for their own safety” decides to send his number two, Mr. William, after them to bring them back.
Mid-Season Episode- The group receives instructions to go to this Mice Monastery who supposedly have insight on the answers of their dreams. The episode starts with the group picturing the typical strict and harsh “religious clergy” that they’ve experienced, Diesel even saying how they mind control their members to follow them. The group finds the monastery and is met with open arms and is very welcoming to them. The head brother shows them their ways and invites them to stay as long as they want. Slowly though, each of the members of the group start to dawn the robes and do the chores of the monastery. Lokachariis secretly pulled aside up to the watchtower where Brother Simeon lives and he revealed the truth that this place brainwashes its members through the goods it makes. Lokachari & Brother Simeon de-brainwashing everyone who was there to save the monastery. They defeat the main brother in charge, and the order is given to Brother Simeon and many people decide to stay to truly work in service. Diesel jokes at the end that he was right about religious people. The end credits show Mr. Williams creeps around the monastery and then questions Brother Simeon.
Near End of Season Episode- The group stumbles upon the “Fake World”. This artificial man-made swamp filled with rubber plants. They explore this strange world, and stumble across various animals who are super shy. Lokachari, Sloane, and Rocco decide to try to open up to the few people to get them out of their shells and do fun activities while Diesel and Bubby try to figure out the history of this place. As Lokachari, Sloane, and Rocco start to fall in love in this community, the other two discover the horrific truth of this place. The group argues on whether or not to stay when they’re met with MR. WILLIAM. After a horrifying monologue of who he is and what he is prepared to do. An intense chase scene that traps Mr. Williams in fake plants, the group barely avoids certain death, and decides to move to a new location. They now have the knowledge that they have a target on their backs.

Why are you the only person(s) to envision this show?
I would say I am the only person to envision this show, because of most of the characters and experiences that I had. I was, and still am, someone who is curious for answers out there. Whether it be something like a bigfoot to the questions of beyond this life, I have had the curiosity to explore that knowledge. I've also been called very naive to always believe something that I heard. But also the supporting characters are based on real people in my life.
