What do Elementary School Counselors do?
- Help students make friends, resolve conflicts & prevent bullying
- Lead small groups on anger management, family changes, anxiety, & more
- Lead our school's Hope Squad, focused on care & connection for all students
- Teach mindfulness techniques throughout the year to help students relieve stress
- Support students, parents, & teachers, by referring to resources to suit their needs

Golden Spike Social Emotional Schoolwide Counselor Initiatives
Sept 5-9, school counselors will be hosting different friend making activities at lunch & in the classroom, to ensure that every student feels welcome and a sense of belonging at the beginning of the year.
Throughout the year, teachers teach Second Step Lessons on problem solving, friendship & emotion management. Counselors also teach bullying prevention lessons to ALL students.
During one week in March, counselors host a kindness week with activities to promote kindness for all students in an effort to prevent bullying & promote friendship.
