The British University in Egypt was founded in a cooperation agreement between the governments of Egypt & the UK. It was envisioned that the students graduating from it would meet the skills & educational standards of the UK.
The former president of the university Mr. Farid Khamis, may he rest in peace, oversaw the establishment of the university in 2004 with support from the British embassy & The British Council. The first cohort joining the university consisted of 200 students in 2005 after construction was complete.
The British university was formally inaugurated by HM King Charles III & HE Ms. Suzzane Mubarak, first lady of Egypt in 2006.
The British university offering programs in 11 different faculties is under the leadership of many prominent names, including our chancellor Professor Sir Magdy Yacoub, FRS, OM. Our court consists of Ms. Farida Khamis, Professor Mohamed Loutfi, Professor Adel A. Beshai and many more incredible scholars. In terms of achievements, the British University is always climbing higher, from launching a Partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP.) or a partnership with the Egyptian Stock Exchange opening a Financial Lab, to becoming the first university to align with the presidential initiative, Haya Karima (A Decent Life) as part of Egypt's Vision 2030.
In 2022, The BUE also launched a partnership with the Manchester Metropolitan University and even organized COP27 Simulation - Capacity Building Programme, Run for the Climate, COP27 Mock Conference, and participated in COP27 at Sharm El Sheikh.
EPSF-BUE (Egyptian Pharmaceutical Students' Federation - British University in Egypt) was founded on April 3rd, 2013, by Ms. Hadeer Nasr. The organization made its mark with the hosting of The 10th Step On The Way (SOTW), its first regional event, which took place from January 31st to February 3rd, 2018. During the EPSF 55th Final General Assembly, EPSF-BUE was awarded (Best Step On The Way Hosting), marking a significant achievement. In the same year, EPSF-BUE also hosted EPSF's 2nd General Meeting and the 52nd Semi-Annual General Assembly. Additionally, 2018 was also the year in which the association participated in its first Summer SEP Hosting, welcoming a student from Romania, who spent a month in Egypt for summer training. The year concluded with EPSF-BUE hosting the EPSF 56th Urgent General Assembly and later the EPSF 60th Final General Assembly. In 2018/2019, EPSF-BUE was awarded "We Believe In Our Potentials" award. The organization continued to build on its successes, earning the Best SEP Hosting award for the 2020-2021 term. The 2021/2022 period marked a historical milestone with EPSF-BUE hosting the 1st Press Conference on its campus. The association also gained visibility through two TV interviews, where they highlighted EPSF-BUE's vision, activities, and impact on the broader pharmaceutical student community. Finally, in 2024 EPSF-BUE was awarded Best SEP hosting for the second time in its history.
