“The Murder Claus” Elk's Club, Saranac Lake
Everyone loves Santa, but not everyone loves Diablo Santos, therefore Thanksgiving morning he was found with a carving knife in his back. Diablo had played Santa at the various holiday functions for the past 10 years. But seems everyone believed Diablo was the devil of Trout Lake and wanted him dead. This is the setting of the holiday season performance of “The Murder Claus.”
The first performance of the Gem*Boy Productions “The Murder Claus” will take place at the Elk's Club (Saranac Lake) on Saturday, November 30, happy hour at 6:32 p.m. and the show begins at 7:04 and dinner at 7:55.
Ironically Diablo would twist a knife in anyone’s back if he thought he could make a profit. Ironic because he was found in the Trout Lake Town Barn, with a carving knife in his back. Very brutal, but considering the season, the right tool for the right job.
Needless to say, that put a little damper on the Thanksgiving Parade, but fortunately spurred on Black Friday cutlery sales. Many said the parade elf saved the day, but many also say she could have 'carved the turkey'!
Anyone could have done it, but there are several likely suspects --- from his trailer trash girlfriend to the Human Resource Manager who fired him.
The audience will watch as the first act unfolds. Each character's reason for killing will be revealed. Then the audience will be part of the interviewing of suspects and finding the murderer. Only the smartest of the investigators will be able to see through a false alibi. Often the best sleuth is the man or woman who doesn’t ask a single question, but watches and listens as each character tries to squirm their way into an alibi.
While the audience mull over who they think done it, they will enjoy a wonderful dining experience. Dinner will include a delicious salad with crispy greens, candied walnuts and sun-dried cranberry’s; sweet potato soup; roasted pork with apple chutney glaze; mashed potatoes; and roasted acorn squash.
Jessica Deeb, McCayla Quinn, John Fremante, Kailyn Mader and Jameson Batt fill out the cast of suspects. Each could have killed Santos, and the only way the killer will be revealed is for the audience to track him or her down.
“The Murder Claus” is filled with small-town/Adirondack humor that Gem*Boy Productions are known for; there have been 30+ productions put on in the North Country. Gem*Boy plays have been staged from Slidell, LA to New Zealand.
