With parents divorced, 14-year old Kate visits her dad Jim for Christmas, just as he’s about to appear in a Christmas musical. A show that Kate says to her dad: “Music’s cool, you’re good, but it’s a bit crap!”
Then news comes that her mother has died in a tragic accident.
The distraught girl faces the end of a secure, routine life to face being part of Jim’s roller-coaster way of living!
Surrounded by colourful, emotional theater friends, pressured by intrusive, well meaning family, Kate and Jim must look at building a life together. It means Kate embracing insecurity in a new world. A kid with her dad on a different road in life – sometimes literally!
They are going to learn how to care and support each other. And it’s hard to know who’s the more practical and wiser.
