In 1983, Rachel, a young arts student, arrives in Sri Lanka and unexpectedly finds lasting friendships, a shared love for music and an all-consuming passion with Tamil student Ravi. Then brutal Civil War tears them apart, and Rachel, pregnant and heartbroken, is forced to leave the country.

Twenty-nine years later, with the war finally over, Rachel returns to Sri Lanka with her unsettled daughter Andrea. Invited by the university participate in a ‘Unity Through Music’ program, their journey to a concert in Ravi’s hometown offers a chance to mend broken relationships and reconcile with their pasts.
