Seward

June 7, 2012

This morning our bags had to be in the hall outside our room by 8:00. We walked to a very nice cafe for breakfast and then did some speed walking around Anchorage as we knew it would be a long time sitting on the train.

The bus for the train left at noon and the train left the station around 1:00 pm for the 4-1/2 hour trip to Seward. Winnie was our car attendant and she was a character. She had to be in her mid-seventies and was less than five feet tall. Besides taking our lunch order and serving she was the narrator for the trip.

As anyone who has traveled with us knows, when the wildlife hear the Forsbergs are coming they go into hiding. We didn’t see any wildlife on the trip but the scenery was incredible. Several glaciers, waterfalls and beautiful mountains. The snow was a little too close to the train for my liking since I see enough of that in MN.

We were on the ship by 6:00 and set sail at 8:00. Our cabin is larger than I expected. It even has a closet big enough to put everything away. We settled in and had a delicious dinner of Ahi tuna.
